How are the images stored?  

As JPEG files on the hard disk on the host computer. Up to 80,000 images are stored per 1gbyte of hard disk space. Standard systems are installed with 10 gbytes of hard disk space.
The system will then re write over the first images and cycle through the stored images. Alternatively you can download to CD or Dat tape.
